Previously known as St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic School and later St. Thomas Aquinas Grammar School. (which was destroyed during the Terminus Invasion of the 22nd July 2009). Claremont Academy opened in 2012.

Claremont Academy is an independent, state-funded school with Hero Certification Programme (HCP) status, which receive its funding directly from central government, rather than through a local authority. The day-to-day running of the school is with the head teacher  and staff but they are overseen by a charitable body (academy trust); Claremont Academy is overseen by the Challenger-Wildeman Foundation. The trust provides advice, support, expertise and a strategic overview. The Academy controls its own admissions process and have more freedom than other schools to innovate..

Claremont Academy is primarily known as the school with the largest population of meta-humans in the UK (excluding dedicated meta-human establishments like the Pryde Foundation Preparatory Institute or the dedicated section of the Walford Defence Sixth-Form College). It has a notable percentage of the students having some form of meta-human or exotic ability. This is in part due to the Challenger-Wildeman Foundation which provides scholarships to the school for high school age meta-human breakthroughs and powered teens.

Claremont Academy is situated on the edge of Raven Woods, nestled in the hills of Saxon Heights, where it has an unchallenged view of the market town of St. Mary Mede, the River Mercia and surrounding areas.

The School is located 70 miles (ca. 113 km) from London, 50 miles (ca. 80 km) South-East of Birmingham, three miles North-West from the suburbs of the City of Wessex and fourteen miles from Royal Mercia Spa.

The school has approx. 1,050 students currently attending. The school can cope with a maximum of 252 student boarders. At present, there are just over 200 students living on the grounds in the dormitories. There are 12 students (plus a further 12 Students from the Pryde Institute) who are publicly known or believed to be Exotics or Meta-humans, though in reality the number of supers attending the school is much larger.
