Complications:
Relationship: – Gustav doted on his late father, a kindly medical scientist researching in Carpathia at the time of a terrorist attack on the facility where they lived and worked. The attack was only recent and naturally has left quite a blow on his son, Gustav (16), who was his sole guardian.
– Gustav is estranged from his Mother, who gave him to his father at the time of his birth. Only recently has Gustav discovered his mother claims to be a fully fledged “vampire” and they must not have correspondence. Gustav has yet to fully process the implications of this and his new, forced, independence.
– Torn between the duality of his human father and vampire mother and the mysterious nature of their relationship. Discovering what it means to be a Dhampir with internal conflicts between their humanity, consciousness and their vampiric instincts.
Weakness: Gustav, as a Dhampir (half-human, half-vampire) suffers from some of the drawbacks vampires may endure, but to a lesser severity:
– Direct sunlight and UV light burns the skin quickly, causing it to redden, become sore, blister and boil if it is endured without appropriate skincare. Meta-capabilities are reduced during normal daytime sunlight levels.
– Garlic in any form results in a mild allergic reaction, effects skin and breathing.
– Religious and spiritual items are distressing. Mild phobia reactions and discomfort.
– The touch of true silver items or weapons prevents immediate regeneration, but no other noticeable differences.
– Mirrors show reflection, yet also reveal hallucinations or projected visions or illusions or spectral patterns, they may be distressing.
– Sleep is of a poor quality and frequented by nightmares without the use of coffin-like furniture.
– High protein diet required. Meat products preferred.
